John A. Thompson

John A. Thompson, 92, of Elizabethtown, passed away after a long illness on Saturday September 14, 2024, in Elizabethtown, PA. He was born in Lancaster County, on March 12, 1932, to the late Harry and Lizzie (Emenheiser) Thompson.

John spent much of his working career as a supervisor at Alcoa. He proudly served in the United States Army. He and his wife were married in Falmouth United Methodist Church in 1956. In his free time, he would hunt and was an avid fisherman. John also enjoyed watching Pitt , Penn State and the Yankees play. He will be greatly missed for his upbeat spirit and funny sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Joycetta Thompson; two daughters, Deborah Thompson and Cheryl Vozzelli (Joe); a son, Roger Thompson (Diana); grandchildren, Sarah, Theresa, Joe Jr., Curtis (Amanda) and Mary (Sean); a sister, Margaret; brothers, Paul and Glenn (Chrissy) .

A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 5-6 PM at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17078. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11 AM at the Falmouth United Methodist Church, 180 Falmouth Road, Bainbridge, PA 17502 with Pastor Jeffrey Snyder officiating. A time of viewing will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow the service at the Falmouth Cemetery, with full military honors.
