John H. Martin

John H. Martin, 84, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy with his loving wife and son by his side on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born Monday, October 13, 1930 in Lancaster to the late Christian and Daisy Mae (Shenk) Martin.  John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dottie L. (Nauman) Martin.
A Veteran, John proudly served with the U.S. Navy from 1948 until 1952.  He retired from Yellow Freight, Lancaster where he worked as a dock worker/jockey for over 31 years.  He was also a member of Mount Calvary Church, Elizabethtown.  He will be remembered for his talented woodworking abilities making various clocks, baskets and plaques.  Most importantly, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Terry Fitzwater, and wife Teresa, of Elizabethtown; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and caring friends.  He was predeceased by a son, George F. Fitzwater who passed away July 18, 2006.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11 AM at Mount Calvary Church, 625 Holly Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022 with Pastor Richard Vaughn officiating.  Private Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville with full Military Honors.  Family and friends are invited for viewing from 9 AM until the time of the service on Monday.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.
