John Michael "Mike" Gubbins, Sr.

John Michael “Mike” Gubbins Sr., 60, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, of natural causes.  Born Dec. 17, 1956, in Clinton, Indiana, he was the son of Joan Elizabeth (Harper) Gubbins and the late John Francis Gubbins.  He was married to Jo Ann (Hippensteel) Gubbins on Aug. 13, 1988, and was a longtime employee with Groff's Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing, and Electrical Inc.

In addition to his devoted wife of 28 years, he will be lovingly missed by his mother, Joan E. Gubbins, of Rome, NY, as well as five children: Amy Woestman, of Tucson, AZ; John Michael Gubbins Jr., of Mechanicsburg; Christopher Lee Gubbins and wife, Camille, of Marietta; Melissa Doreen Gubbins of Columbia, and Jacob Nathaniel Gubbins of Elizabethtown.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; 9 sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as Mike’s extended family and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1136 Sunwood Lane, Lancaster, PA  17601.  There will be a viewing held at the church on Saturday from noon-1:30 p.m.  Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s honor to the missionary fund on behalf of his son Jacob, with funds payable to the Elizabethtown Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (c/o Bishop Derrick Herbert, 12 Dogwood Lane, Willow Street PA 17584).
