John D. Gordon

John David Gordon, 90, of Palmyra, passed away on December 23, 2015 in the Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health, Harrisburg.  He was born Monday, December 7, 1925 in Hershey to the late John McKinley and Edna Mae (Ebersole) Gordon.  He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Esther E. “Dolly” (Jamison) Gordon.

John was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a graduate of Quaker City Aeronautical School and worked for Olmstead Air Force Base and New Cumberland Army Depot as an aircraft mechanic.  John and Esther were the owner/operators of Woodland Motor Court for 7 years.  He was a faithful member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church and a member of the Lebanon County Historical Society for 25 years.  He was a Scout Master and an avid reader.  John was a collector, collecting stamps, coins, and rocks.  He was interested in genealogy, and researching family histories.  Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons, Edward A. Gordon and wife Barbara of Mechanicsburg and Leonard E. Gordon and wife Bonnie of Nashville; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Gordon, Joshua Gordon, John D. Gordon, II and wife Cathy, and Amy Jo Gordon; and a great-granddaughter, Makenzie Gordon.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 28 2015 at 11 AM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078.  Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service.  Burial will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11 AM in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the National Parkinson Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018 or to Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Rd., Palmyra 17078.
