Joanne M. Leib, 79, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer that began in March. Born March 17, 1946 in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vere and Sadie (Walter) Bishop. She was married to Glen N. Leib for 52 years.
Joanne was a 1964 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School. She earned her associate’s degree from Harrisburg Institute of Medical Arts. Joanne was a talented stained glass craftsperson and a longtime member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. For many years, Joanne worked as a self-employed stained glass artisan, sharing her work at arts and crafts shows throughout the Susquehanna Valley and surrounding states.
Joanne and her husband, Glen, and their children enjoyed many family adventures in a camper, traveling across the country to visit National Parks, going to the beach, and spending time in Florida. A great source of joy for Joanne was the time she and Glen spent over the winters with their many friends in Fort Myers, Florida. She enjoyed cruises, reminiscing and sharing laughter with friends, creating cherished memories with her children and their spouses, and treasured her time with her granddaughters, especially their frequent trips to Hersheypark.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Glen N. Leib, and her brother, Barry V. Bishop. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Painter, and husband Matt of Elizabethtown; her son, Gregory Leib, and wife Trisha (Bruen) of Dover, PA; two granddaughters, Kyla and April; numerous cousins; and 5 nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Joanne’s life will take place on Friday, January 16th at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 North Locust Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
