Jerald Leo Garland
December 28, 1937 — June 21, 2023
Jerald Leo Garland, 85, of Elizabethtown. Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 21st, under remarkable care of the Fox Chase Center staff and with family by his side. Jerald was the son of the late Floyd Garland and Thelma Heckman. He was also married to Doris Groff for thirty six years.
Jerald was a devoted member of the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren and actively involved in the events at the Elizabethtown College. Jerald graduated from the Elizabethtown College in 1956 with a degree in Education and later became The Director of Alumni relations for the college from 1984-2001. He also received the college's Educate for Services award in 2002. Jerald also enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Jerald is survived by his daughters, Cara Garland of Philadelphia and Ashley Garland of Florida. Also survived by his grandchildren Dasia Haywood and Leo Garland. He was also preceded in death by his sister Donna Rae Bruneau.
Services will be held at The Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren on Saturday July 22nd at 11:00 am.
