Jean A. (Reed) LaPrise

Jean Anne (Reed) LaPrise, 68, of Harrisburg passed away unexpectedly, with her girls holding her hands, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  She was born Monday, March 3, 1947 in Philadelphia to the late Dr. Harry Wilson and Rose Mary (Murphy) Reed.

She was a Fredericksburg native and a 1965 graduate of Northern Lebanon High School.  Jean was a retired Hearing Office Director for the Social Security Administration with 38 years of service.

Jean was a selfless and giving woman who always put her family first.  She loved supporting her grandchildren in all of their endeavors; they were the apples of her eye.  She enjoyed going on family vacations and spending time at the Chesapeake Bay.

Jean will be lovingly missed by 2 daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Kreiser and husband Craig of Jonestown and Andrea (LaPrise) Zappacosta and husband John of Palmyra; 8 grandchildren, Brooke Dunkle and husband Evan of Harrisburg, Dylan Gibson of Marysville, Jake Schiffhauer and twin brother Cole of Palmyra, Megan Schiffhauer of Palmyra, and Mia, Ana, and Jack Zappacosta of Catasauqua; 2 brothers, Harry W. Reed, Jr. and wife Sage of Lebanon and Robert Reed and wife Suk Cha of Maui, HI; 2 sisters, twin sister Mary Reed Boyer and husband James of Harrisburg and Rosemary Steranko and husband Gregory of Carlisle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held at the family’s convenience.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078.

Jean’s family would like to thank the M.S. Hershey Medical Center’s MICU for the compassionate care they gave Jean.   Jean was so loved by her family and friends, “we will see you on the other side.”

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Ronald McDonald House, 745 W. Governor Rd., Hershey, Pennsylvania 17033.
