Janette L Howell

Janette L. Howell, 74, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2025 at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was born October 7, 1951 to the late John and Virginia (Brecht) Wertz. She was predeceased by her loving husband Daniel J. Howell since 2017.

A proud Navy wife, Janette was dedicated to caring for children, not just her own children and grandchildren but she was a childcare worker. She worked at both Samara, Harrisburg, an intensive parenting program also Susquehanna Waldorf School, Marietta. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, reading, and being with her family in the mountains. More than anything she was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her children, Amy Webb and husband Bruce, Sandra Howell and husband Nicolas Zack, and John Howell and wife Kathryn Stanbaugh; grandchildren, Kathryn, Rebecca, Ryan, Alley, Austin, and Tristin; great granddaughter, Norah; and brother, John Wertz. In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased by her brother John Wertz.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:30 am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A celebration of life will follow the graveside service at 4 pm at the family residence, 102 Watercress Ln., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
