With hearts full of loving memories, we share the news that our beloved Janet "Sarge" (Hoag) Schreiber, 95, peacefully joined her Heavenly Father on the evening of February 15, 2025. Janet, the cherished daughter of Clifford L. Hoag and Ester K. (Martin) Hoag, was a truly special soul, the only one of her four siblings to be born in a hospital (Taylor). She was a proud graduate of Collingdale High School, class of 1949, and sister to Robert (Harriet) Hoag, Mildred (Charles) Winnemore, and Helen (Spike) Miller.

Janet's story was a testament to love and adventure. Imagine, at just 18, she boldly asked the love of her life to her junior prom as he strolled past her house and married on September 9, 1950 – a love that blossomed and flourished until his passing in 2002. Their journey began in Colwyn, PA, before settling in Prospect Park, where they lovingly raised their two wonderful daughters, Gail Marian Beatty (Traband) and Barbara Ann Koban.

Following in her mother's footsteps, Janet became a respected Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, and she also shared her talents as a secretary at Atlantic Aviation, a car dealership, and even as a school bus driver. Retirement brought a new chapter in Lakeland, FL, where she embraced life with open arms, working at the ball field as an usher, Walmart, the civic center, and the golf course. Janet was a whirlwind of activity, serving as secretary of the golf club, writing community newsletters, and organizing trips, yard sales, card clubs, and pool activities. When she wasn't orchestrating fun, she was expressing her creativity through acrylic painting, playing golf, traveling, or simply basking in the joy of family time at Disney – oh, how she adored her family!

Her Philly roots ran deep, evident in her love for a good hoagie and her unwavering support for the Eagles. Janet's passion for sports was undeniable, and she never hesitated to share her opinions on the game. And let's not forget her sweet tooth! Family lore tells of her coining the phrase "gooey goshy" to describe those irresistible treats that were simply too delicious to resist.

Known affectionately as "Sarge" for her leadership and directness, Janet was a beacon of light to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her infectious smile, joyous laughter, deep rooted faith in Jesus, and commitment to spreading love and kindness left an indelible mark on all who met her. She was a dedicated church member, serving as an usher, working in the church kitchen, and participating in Stephen Ministry. Her ability to bring smiles and laughter was a true gift.

"Mom-Mom" was a master of staying connected, bridging distances with Skype, FaceTime, and heartfelt phone calls. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, from Australia to St. Thomas, where she loved swimming, snorkeling, and effortlessly floating in the ocean – a skill she perfected!

In 2012, Janet brought her radiant spirit and sassy personality to the Masonic Home in Elizabethtown. She embraced her new community with enthusiasm, serving a three-year term as President of the Residents, actively participating in the welcoming crew, food service committee, volunteering at the boutique and gift shop, singing in the Merry Maids choir, and even trying her hand at ceramics. She cherished her conversations with the younger servers at the Grand Lodge, always eager to hear about their lives, and she never shied away from a bit of playful banter.

Though her physical presence is gone, Janet's memory will forever be a warm and comforting light in our lives. She would want us to remember her for her carefree spirit, her ability to uplift those around her, and the boundless love she shared. She was a true blessing to all.

Janet was predeceased by her beloved husband, James G. Schreiber; her cherished daughter, Gail M. Beatty; and her siblings, Robert Hoag, Mildred Winnemore, and Helen Miller. She is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara A. Koban (Samuel); her adoring grandchildren, Dawn K. Hewitt (Steve), Michael J. Koban (Crystal), Tammy N. Koban (Albert), David Beatty (April), and Nancy Leib Parrella (Dee); and her treasured great-grandchildren, Samuel and Ethan Hewitt, Mathew and Amanda Beatty, and Nicole, Rachel, and Mathew Parrella.

Let us carry Janet's love and laughter in our hearts always, remembering her as a shining example of a life well-lived.
