James “Jim” Russel Steinmetz, 66, formerly of Elizabethtown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 24, 2012.  He was born Friday, January 4, 1946 in Lebanon, to the late Ferdinand and Dorothy (Horstick) Steinmetz.  He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carol (Abel) Steinmetz.

Jim was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, where he volunteered as an usher and at the welcoming center.  In 2001 he retired from Three Mile Island, where he worked for 34 years in shipping and receiving.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed local racing, and had a passion for photography and videography.  Jim was witty, always ready with a joke or a story.  Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Corey Steinmetz and wife Amy of CA; 2 grandchildren, Evan and Emma Steinmetz of CA; 2 siblings, Ross Seely and wife Mary of CA and Betty Miller of NJ; numerous nieces and nephews; and a faithful k-9 companion, Brindy

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29 th at 11 AM at Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, 330 Hilltop Rd., Hummelstown, PA 17036, with Pastor Omar Zook officiating.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 AM until time of the services.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
