James Dann McLoughlin, 80, of Palmyra, formerly of Allentown, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon. He was born Friday, October 21, 1932 in Montclair, NJ to the late Joseph E. and Kathryn (Dann) McLoughlin. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret P. (Hladon) McLoughlin.
He graduated from Iona Preparatory School, Villanova University, and served in the US Army during Korea. He retired from General Motors as a district sales manager following a successful 29 year career. He was a member of The Church of the Holy Spirit, St. Thomas More Church, and 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying golf, and supporting the NY Giants and Mets. He was proud of his Irish heritage and loved his family dearly.
James, Jim, Jimmy, or Pop, as he was most recently called, had a gregarious personality, an infectious laugh, and a short temper.  From boyhood to manhood he walked through life with a glint in his eyes that people remembered.  He embraced all of the phases of his life with faith and passion.  He loved to sing and dance, and never passed on an opportunity to enjoy the company of family and friends.
He is survived by a son James M. McLoughlin and wife Susan of Homer City; two daughters, Mary Ellen Werner of Palmyra, and Patricia Cole and husband Richard “Chet” of Palmyra; five grandchildren, Bridget, TJ and Kevin Cole, Maggie and Stephen McLoughlin; one sister, Carol Ann Mimnaugh. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen B. McLoughlin; a brother, Joseph E. McLoughlin, Jr.; a sister, Mary Ellen Fitzharris.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 12 at 11 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 1040 Flexer Avenue, Allentown, PA 18106 with Rev. Msgr. John P. Murphy as celebrant. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 AM until time of the service at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown.
