James “Jim” William Hannold, 69, of Hershey, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024.  Born in Clarion, PA, Jim spent his youth just as any young boy would dream.  He played tag with his brothers and sisters, cousins and friends, hide-n-seek, went fishing and hunting, and went to church on Sundays. He loved riding his bike to the pond and spending as much time outside as he could.

Jim was the son of the late Harrison “Jim” Hannold and Doris (Wolbert) Hannold.  With his first marriage the good Lord blessed them with three children, Jen Hannold (Steve), Jason Hannold (Ashley) and Justin Hannold.  Jim was fortunate to find love once again and married Tammy Jo (Daniels) Hannold.  Jim became a proud stepfather to Zachery Dishong and Amber Onnen (Tim).  He was a grandfather to eight; Bentley, Luca, Kameron, James, Danny, Tyler, Miles, and soon to be Tenley Hannold.

Jim had nine siblings, Judy Brightbill (Jim), Joe Hannold, Teri Hannold, Greg Hannold (Junita), Jeff Hannold (Chris), Karen Lewis, Mark Hannold (Shawn), Tammy Shaffer, and Connie Hannold (Chat); and mother-in-law, Shirley “Mrs. D” Daniels; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jim was known for his work ethic.  He never wanted a day off.  In high school, Jim thought he was the talk of town with his Volkswagen bug and Ford Mustang.  He played baseball and after graduating went to work in the lumber yard.  Jim was a quick learner, and his professional career continued to grow achieving many goals along the way including Distributor of the Year for Pittsburgh Paints & Glass back in the mid 90’s.  He traveled and sacrificed for his family, eventually giving it all up to spend more time around the house.  He was a baseball coach for his son, Jason, took his daughter, Jennifer and son, Justin on several trips around North America.  He was blessed to see our beautiful country.

He went on to accomplish the American Dream and lived the life he wanted.  Jim settled down into a beautiful ranch home with Tammy Jo and had plenty of land to play on just as he did as a kid.  One of his favorite things to do was admire the deer from the front porch with Tammy.  He would spend many days looking out the front for deer and checking on his chickens and garden.  He always wanted the fresh eggs for breakfast.

Jim and Tammy loved to travel together.  They were fortunate to visit many places around the United States and see many sights.  From the cliffs of the Central Coast in California to the white sand beaches in Florida, the time they spent together was passionate and admirable.  True love for each other as people would say.

Jim’s love for the outdoors and nature was glaringly apparent.  He learned his hunting skills from his grandfather, Sebastian Wolbert and looked forward to deer season every year.  He was known around camp as the guy who would always get the first deer.  Jim spent a good part of his life in the Pennsylvania woods just as he wanted.

As the years went by, he did not want to slow down.  Jim spent a few days a week driving milk truck to and from the local diaries meeting many Mennonites and Amish along the way. They too, loved him.  He enjoyed passing out candy to the kids on his milk run trips before heading back into Hershey.

He spent his last remaining years with Tammy and his grandchildren.  He was proud to see his stepson, Zachery join and serve in the United States Air Force.  He loved caring for all of his grandchildren and building things and playing with them, almost daily.  He spent time working and rehabbing cars as that brought him back to his younger days.

Jim was an incredible father, loving husband, and grandfather to us.  We loved him dearly and he will be missed by so many.  We know that our time on earth is limited, and God has a plan for us all.  We are truly blessed and fortunate to have the 69 years of life with him here on Earth.  God has called Jim home, and we know we will get to see him again someday.  We pray for him to watch over us and our families and to keep us strong in our faith.  He touched so many people in his life, which each one of us are better off knowing we were able to spend some time with James “Jim” William Hannold.  You will be deeply missed, and we love you.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 4PM at the Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company, 2818 Horseshoe Pike, Palmyra, PA 17078. Family and friends are invited to a visitation afterwards from 5-7PM. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
