James “Jimmy” McCarthy Carter, 67, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Lebanon VA Hospital. He was born Tuesday, June 17, 1947 in Lancaster to the late Justin and Ella (Rhoads) Carter.

Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Rifle Sharpshooter honor, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering on Kyle Busch. Jimmy was an avid hunter and fisherman who found being in the mountains one of the greatest joys in life. He was a jovial man that appreciated the time he got to spend with friends and family. He will truly be missed.

He is survived by a brother, Walt Carter; a sister, Delores Mckenzie; 6 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and newphews; 6 great-great-nieces and nephews; and children he loved as if they were his own, Scott Leese and companion Kristen Bojanic, Ronnie, Jessica, and Tabatha Leese. He was predeceased by a brother Louis Dobbs.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19th at 11 AM at Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown 17022. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 9 AM until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 10V 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon 17042.
