JAMES BUIST BISSET

James Buist Bisset, 87, of Highspire, formerly of Elizabethtown passed on to eternal life on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice Unit after a courageous battle with his illness.

Born on September 10, 1926 in Ashley, PA to the late John & Sarah Bisset. At a young age he joined the military, serving with the U.S. Navy Seabees in WWII. At wars end he stayed with the U.S. Naval Reserves until the beginning of the Korean War. He went back to active duty, but not for the Navy, instead he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He achieved the rank of sergeant. He dedicated 12 years in all and received three honorable discharges.

He was employed by AMP, Inc. in Elizabethtown until retirement in 1988.

His interests were hunting, fishing, listening to the Phillies, Eagles and Penn State football games. In addition he loved blue grass music probably most of all.

He was preceded in death by his brothers John, Robert, Raymond and his sister Elizabeth.

Surviving are his sisters Margaret, Adaleen, Shirley and his brother William. In the immediate family he was preceded in death by his wife Elsa and a step daughter Susan Powers. Surviving are two sons James and wife Debra, Heath Allen, and also a step daughter Glenda wife of Ron Kedell and son-in-law Mike Powers. Also surviving are four grandchildren Frank, Kent, Jen, Derek and two great grandchildren Kadyn and Austin.

He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

Graveside services will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
