J. Roy Gish, 94 of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully at the Masonic Village on July 15, 2026. Roy was born on June 28, 1932, to the late Martin L. and Anna Fridy Gish. He married Jeannine Amelia Brubaker in 1953 and celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to her death in 2024. Roy is survived by his children, Sonya K. Gish and wife Cherie Schaffer, and Scott J. Gish and wife Adriane; grandchildren, Erica (Gish) Elsing, Vanessa and Natalie Gish; great grandson, Otto Elsing.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Martin and Mildred Groff; and his brothers, Mervin, Eugene, and Samuel.
Roy was a dedicated family man and loving father who believed in hard work and keeping busy. He was employed by AMP, Inc. for 40 years, holding positions in manufacturing, management, and quality control. He was also the owner of a handcrafted Moravian star company. Because Roy enjoyed helping others, he later began driving commercial vehicles and buses, working for another 20 years in that capacity.
Roy was a longtime member of St. Paul’s UMC, where he served as Sunday School treasurer and offertory collection lead. He was an avid gardener who won several awards for his produce. For many years, he volunteered at the Elizabethtown Fair, where he helped coordinate activities and joyfully made milkshakes. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Elizabethtown.
