Helen Starr Weaver, 102, of Lancaster, formerly of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2012 at Brethren Village. Born in East Hempfield Twp., she was the daughter of the late Philip and Naomi (Sload) Starr. She was the wife of the late Roger L. Weaver who passed away in 1999.
Helen was a lifetime member of the Church of God and was a member of the Elizabethtown First Church of God for over 70 years, where she sang in the choir for 32 years. She graduated from the old Rohrerstown High School and the Lancaster Business College. She was then employed by Hamilton Watch Co., where she worked in the case office and retired from Continental Press in Elizabethtown. After retirement, she and her husband delivered Meals on Wheels in Elizabethtown. Helen and her husband lived in Elizabethtown until 1993 when they moved to Brethren Village, and they both enjoyed traveling. She was dearly loved by the residents and staff at Brethren Village, and she loved them.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Newcomer and three brothers: Raymond, Walter and Ervin Starr.
Helen is survived by two nieces: Geraldine S., wife of Richard C. Rehm and Betty, wife of Joe Gray; two nephews: Robert, husband of Sue Starr and Raymond, husband of Linda Starr; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the First Church of God, 144 South Market Street, Elizabethtown at 11:00 AM. Viewing will take place at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
The family appreciates the loving care she received from the staff of Brethren Village, and Hospice and Community Care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Brethren Village or the Elizabethtown First church of God.
