Helen Oberholtzer
Helen Oberholtzer, 81, of Mount Joy went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Masonic Village.
She was the wife of Glenn H. Oberholtzer. They were married 60 years on February 7.
Born in Manheim Township, she was the daughter of the late George M Ober and Mary Smith Ober Fulkrod.
She was raised by foster parents, the late Joseph and Alice (Baum) Greiner who gave her a loving home since the age of two.
Helen worked at various egg processing plants over the years as well as working on the farm alongside her husband. Helen enjoyed her vegetable garden and her flowers, playing bingo and having a Flea Market Stand at Root's and Saturday's Market. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church and was involved with the Sewing Circle group.
In addition to her husband, Helen will be missed by her two daughters, Sue, wife of Kevin Zurin of Mount Joy and Carol, wife of David Martin of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren Jill (Joel) Stout, Randy (Jennifer) Zurin, Kimberly (Frank) Splain, Lucretia Martin and Michael Martin; and eight great grandchildren Justin, Jared, Aubrey and Kristen Stout, Annabelle Zurin and Collin, Mason and Gavin Splain.
Also surviving are siblings, Jane Herr, Anna Mary Shelly, George Ober, Robert (Joyce) Fulkrod all of Manheim; Jacob (Miriam) Ober of Conestoga, Wayne(Arlene) Ober of Lancaster, Sarah Miller of Thurmont, MD, Betty (James)
Lentz of Ephrata, and Blanche Minshell of Schenectady, NY.
Foster sister Jane (Ken) Moyer of Manheim and Henry (Fran) Greiner of Ulysses.
One brother, Phares Ober and two sisters Catherine Weidman and Leah Ebersole, preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Helens Memorial Service at the Mount Joy Mennonite Church,
320 Musser Road, Mount Joy on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 12pm (Noon) with Pastor Karl Landis and Pastor Dawn Winey officiating. Friends may call at Mount Joy Mennonite
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at Mt Tunnel Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Arrangements are under the care of the Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory of Elizabethtown.
