On February 12, Helen Tewksbury Neidig died in her sleep in Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA, one month shy of her 101st birthday.

She was surrounded by family members who so dearly loved her.

She was born to the late Byron G. Tewksbury and Florence B. (Stevens) on March 15, 1921 in Auburn Center, a farming community in northeastern Pennsylvania.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Dr. Howard A. (“Tony”) Neidig, and her siblings Jean Tewksbury Bates and Elmer John Tewksbury.

Helen was an administrative assistant to the President of Keystone Jr. College in LaPlume, PA from 1963 to 1972. She was in partnership with her husband, Tony, in the ownership and management of Chemical Education Resources from 1984 through 2000. She served as Operations Manager.

Helen was also a past President of the Junior Women’s Club, a member of the Dalton Borough Council, a past President of the Dalton PTA, Treasurer of the Lebanon Valley College Auxiliary, and Chairman of LVC Annville Forum Luncheon and Fashion Show.

In January 1972, Helen married Tony Neidig, who was head of the Chemistry Department at Lebanon Valley College. They resided in Palmyra and spent their weekend and family time at their home in Pocono Pines, PA. Tony passed away in January 2008, soon after they had relocated to their retirement home at Cornwall Manor in Cornwall, PA.

This very happy marriage united two families with four children; Linda and John Banigan, plus Kathy and Nancy Neidig. The latter are married to Frank O’Leary, Gail Banigan, Tony Calabrese, and Dan Bentzel, respectively. In addition, ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren were born into the family.

Helen and Tony were active and distinguished members of the Lebanon Valley College family. They embraced, supported and promoted the mission of LVC, being long-term ambassadors of the college. They have left a meaningful and lasting legacy.
