Harry Albert Minehart of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. He was born Wednesday, August 15, 1923 in Philadelphia to the late Harry C. and Edna Minehart. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Verna S. (Johnson) Minehart.
Harry graduated from Upper Moreland High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Staff Sergeant and Squad Leader under the leadership of General Patton. He was employed for 40 years at ARCO as the assistant manager of the insurance division. He was active in the Boy Scouts and the Sea Scouts. Harry belonged to the Friendship Williams Lodge for 67 years, was involved with the Scottish Rite, High 12, Al Malaikah, and a member of the Shrine. Most importantly he was a loving husband and father.
He is survived by a granddaughter, Katrina Besnard and husband Jerome of Schwentsville; 2 great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Ian Besnardof Schwentsville; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Robertson of Arlington, TX. He was predeceased by 2 sons, Richard and David Minehart.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 25th at 2 PM at John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown 17022 with Pastor Gary George officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd at 10:30 AM at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown 17022.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Sell Chapel Employee Emergency Outreach Fund.
