Harold John Light, 86, of Palmyra passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born Sunday, January 29, 1928 in Myerstown to the late Charles Daniel and Hilda (Light) Light. He is survived by his loving wife Jane A. (Donnelly) Light. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty H. Light.
He was the owner of Light-Heigel and Associates, Inc. and worked up until his last days. Hal was a lifetime member of the professional engineer associations ASCE and PSPE. He was a faithful and active member of Palmyra Brethren in Christ Church. In his mid-70’s Hal earned his pilot’s license and flew his aircraft out of Reigle Airport. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by 2 children, Robin L. Dunkle of Palmyra and Robert H. Light and wife Elizabeth of Souderton, PA; 2 step-children, Jennifer Harris of Lewes, DE; 5 grandchildren, Harold Dunkle and wife Cardee, Daniel Dunkle, Heidi Cober, Amy Hoffer and husband Anthony, and Chelsea Cichocki; and 2 great-grandchildren, Karsten and Reid Cober. He was predeceased by 2 step-siblings, Clair and Doris Reed.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 3 PM at Palmyra Brethren in Christ Church, 616 W. Main St., Palmyra 17078 with Rev. Terry Friesen officiating. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 2 PM until time of the service. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
