Hanna Bakalorz, 92, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, January 17, 2026. She was born April 6, 1933 in Germany to the late Johann and Auguste (Mohofski) Tomzyck. She is predeceased by her husband since 2008, Georg W.P. Bakalorz.

She had a lifelong passion for teaching and learning. She began her career in Germany, where she taught English and was actively involved at a young age in rebuilding Germany’s post-war infrastructure. After moving to the United States, she continued sharing her love of language and education by teaching German in Palmyra. Hanna was an avid gardener who found joy and peace tending to her plants, and she greatly enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places and cultures. A devoted older sister, she took pride in guiding and teaching her siblings and remained deeply connected to her family throughout her life. More than anything, Hanna cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness.

Hanna is survived by her children, Martin Bakalorz and wife Maryanne, Marion Bakalorz and husband Brian Mack, and Ingrid Bakalorz Blubaugh and husband Bill; and grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, Matthew, Sarah, Quincy, and Elliot.
