Grace A. Everett

Grace A. Everett Profile Photo

Grace was born in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in Belmar, NJ.  Going to the beach and walking the boardwalk were favorite pastimes.  Books were preferred rather than toys. After graduating from Manasquan High School, she got a secretarial job with the US government.  That is where she met the love of her life, Rowland Alvin Everett "Al."  They were married for 68 years before he died and had three children: Judy Laubenstein (Dale), the late Bill Everett and Patti Hoffman (the late Jim Hoffman).

Grace had several secretarial jobs over the years and also worked in a dress shop at one time.  There were times when she helped care for family members in her home when needed.  Her life of service continued.  She was a fundraiser for Deborah Heart and Lung Association for 25 years.  She also volunteered for AARP, Pine Valley Methodist Church in NC and also at Londonderry Village in Palmyra, PA.

Grace enjoyed knitting, crafts and was a master gardner.  Her gardens and plants were beautiful.  She was a Penn State football fan and enjoyed watching basketball, but rooted for North Carolina Tarheels if they played Penn State.  She enjoyed reading mysteries, the Filling Station's coconut custard donuts, doing word search, and playing bingo at the home. Music was something else she enjoyed.

She and Al had many dogs over the years, the last being Greta.  Getting kisses from the nurse Tracey's dogs Toast and Jasper was a delight for her.  Her friend Donna often visited with her dog, Nicko, which Grace thought was a cat and called him Kitty.  Judy visited several times with their puppy, Haddy.

Al retired at age 55 and they moved to North Carolina.  They bought a camper and traveled extensively.  When Al had a stroke, they moved to Pennsylvania so they were near family.

In addition to her children, she is survived by five grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Al, son, Bill Everett, grandchildren, Peter and Jonathan Everett, and son-in-law, Jim Hoffman.

For over a year Grace has been asking God to take her home.  Now she is with Jesus and Al.

Grace is remembered as kind, sweet, strong and independent.  She was looked up to by her peers.  She will surely be missed.
