Glenn G. “Turk” DeTurk, 68, of Hershey, and formerly of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness.  He was born Tuesday, March 25, 1947 in Lebanon to the late Nancy (Allwein) Bretherick, wife of Bernard Bretherick.  He was married to Linda L. (Zapcic) DeTurk on May 17, 1969.

A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Turk proudly served with the U.S. Army and was the proud recipient of a Purple Heart.  He was formerly employed by Kraft Foods, Palmyra and retired from Johnson & Johnson-McNeil, Lancaster.

Turk was a life-member and past commander of the Palmyra VFW Post #6417 and a legionnaire member of the Palmyra American Legion Post #72.

In addition to his wife of over 46 years, he will be lovingly missed by a son, Joseph W. DeTurk, of Hershey; a daughter Jennifer M. Covington and husband, Christopher, of Palmyra; a granddaughter, Violet Wike, of Jonestown; a brother, Doug Bretherick and wife Julie, parents of Samuel Bretherick, of Raleigh, NC; his father, Bernard Bretherick, of Palmyra as well as Glenn’s extended family and caring friends.  In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Wayne and Eva Allwein.

A Christian Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078 with Father Pius Michael officiating.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to view at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 PM until the time of the service.  Committal Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with full military honors.
