Glenn M. Erb, died after a brief illness in the Health Care Center at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, on August 16th. He was born on May 20, 1922 near East Petersburg to Anna (Musser) Erb and Rudy H. Erb. His family moved to Elizabethtown during his youth where he attended Elizabethtown High School.
He enlisted in the US Army at the beginning of WWII where he was assigned to the 239th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion as a Radar Commander.
Returning home after the war, he worked for Hamilton Watch Co. He married Doris L. Ulrich and was married for 55 years until her death in 2003. He has two sons: Larry and D.K. (wife Joanne), and two grandsons: Silvan and Yoric (wife Hannah). Of his five brothers, Gerald (wife Sara), Rudolph (wife Mary), Lyle (wife Janice)and Orie survive; Allen (wife Mildred) are both deceased. Glenn is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was also married to Mary Ellen Garber in 2005 until her death in 2009.
Glenn was a member of the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, the oldest member of Elizabethtown Rotary and a member of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge # 682, F&AM, Elizabethtown.
He and his brother Rudolph owned and operated Erb Bros. Service Station until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed wintering in Florida, traveling and spending time with his grandsons.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown at 11:00 AM. A Masonic Service will be conducted by Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682 prior to the service at 11:00. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
