Gladys L. Slichter

Gladys L. Slichter, 89, of Palmyra, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at UPMC Harrisburg. She was born Tuesday, July 30, 1935, in Waynesboro, PA to the late Robert and Nettie (Laughman) Zeger. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard E. Slichter.

Gladys was a 1953 graduate of Mercersburg High School. She had a passion for automobiles, was a member of the Hershey Region and Dutch Region Antique Auto Club and the AACA. She enjoyed the various car club events and volunteered at the AACA National Fall Meet in Hershey each October. Gladys enjoyed attending and watching the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR races. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, traveling and cross stitching. Some of her favorite places to visit were Stone Harbor, NJ and Walt Disney World. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by a daughter, Candace MacAdam and husband “Mac”; 1 sister, Nancy Richards (Dennis), 2 brothers, Robert Zeger Jr and Frank Zeger (Emily). 1 sister-in-law, Cindy Spangler, 2 step-grandchildren, Pamela Fox (John), and Robert Jason MacAdam (Elene); 4 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marianne Slichter, 1 sister Elizabeth Wharton (Leo), and 2 brothers, Donald Zeger (Fay) and Jerry Zeger and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Zeger.

Family and friends are invited for viewing on Monday, August 26th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Palm Lutheran Church, 11 West Cherry Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM with Reverend Carl Rabbe officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
