Gerald Austin Robison, Jr.

February 4, 1925 — November 28, 2024

Gerald (“Jerry”) A. Robison, Jr, 99, formerly of York, PA passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA. Born Wednesday, February 4, 1925 in Bellefonte, PA, he was the son of the late Gerald A. Robison, Sr. and Frances (Clemow) Robison.

Jerry graduated from Bellefonte high school in 1943 and enlisted in the Army after graduation. Following 3 years of military service including assignment in the Pacific theater, Jerry purchased and operated a filling station in Philipsburg, PA.  It was in Philipsburg where he met and married his wife of 65 years, Gale (Woods) Robison.  Jerry eventually sold the filling station to attend Penn State University where he earned a teaching degree.  He also attended Millersville University where he earned his master’s degree and had begun doctoral studies at Penn State University.  Jerry went on to a 32-year career as a junior high and high school history teacher employing with the York Suburban School district beginning in 1958.  His favorite subjects were the ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians.  Following retirement from the York Suburban School District, Jerry pursued his life-long interest in model railroading.

Jerry enjoyed listening to classical music, researching family genealogy, and watching Penn State football games.

Jerry is survived by his five sons, and their wives; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerome L. Woods and his wife Barbara of Philipsburg, PA; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
