Gerald E. Hamme

February 29, 1932 — December 3, 2023

Gerald E. Hamme, 91, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living in Maytown. Born Tuesday, February 29, 1932 in Abbottstown, he was the son of the late Guy C. and Ada Ione (Hoke) Hamme. He was married 22 years to Phyllis J. (Robbins) Hamme.

Jerry was a 1950 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. After serving his apprenticeship, Jerry worked as an electrical engineer for 12 years at Armstrong in Lancaster and 23 years at M&M Mars, Inc., in Elizabethtown, retiring in 1995. He was a skilled woodworker, making a lot of the furniture in his home. He also was a recreational golfer and loved playing cards, especially poker.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Stephen T. Hamme of York; a step-son Michael K. Lightner of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren: Kristina, Benjamin, Marie, Samuel and Christian; and a brother Dale Hamme and his wife Kay. Gerald was predeceased by his first wife Beverly J. (Parks) Hamme; a daughter Jane S. Flasher, and a sister Betty Martin.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 (his birthday) at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 South Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in the church memorial garden followed by visitation and luncheon.
