George A. Wakefield, 70, of Marietta, passed away at West Shore Hospital in Harrisburg on June 14, 2015. Born in Mt. Union, he was the son of the late Clarence and Violet (Machamer) Wakefield.  He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria J. Wakefield in 2000.

George was an outdoors man who liked to spend this free time hunting and fishing, and spending time at his cabin in Perry County.  He was a good grandpa who adored all of his grandchildren. His grandchildren fondly remember sharing his favorite candy, Twizzlers, with him.

He is survived his four children, Todd A. Wakefield, husband of Susan M. of Marietta, Kenneth B. Wakefield of Elizabethtown, Michael L., husband of Christine of Marietta, and Laurie L. Kingsboro, wife of Michael E., of Mount Joy; eight grandchildren: Nicole, Michelle, Sydney, Joseph, Alexander, Matthew, Dylan, and Seth; two great grandchildren: Caden and Aryanna, and one brother, Eugene Wakefield, husband of Linda of Mount Union.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547 with Provost of Lancaster Bible College, Dr. Philip Dearborn officiating. A Viewing will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the funeral home, and again on Thursday from 10:30 until the time of the service. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, PA.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.SmedleyFuneralHome.com
