George L. Strawn, 88, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2014 at his home.
Born on March 23, 1926 in Easton, PA to the late Paul and Anna (Loux) Strawn, Riegelsville, PA.
George was a member of Dallas Lafayette Lodge # 396, F&AM of Easton. He was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ of Elizabethtown and a longtime member of St. John United Church of Christ, Riegelsville, PA.
Serving his country, George was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II before coming come to begin his life with his bride of 66 years, Mary (Eichlin) Strawn. He was a graduate of Easton High School Class of 1944 and Penn State University and worked for many years a Riegel Paper Mill and lastly at Dynamatics. A trained electrician, George was also a self-taught, highly skilled carpenter and a “Jack of all trades,” helping anyone who had something that needed fixing. He was also an avid fan of Lehigh University football and to anyone who knew him, a relentless fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Surviving along with his wife is a son Keith Strawn and his wife Leanne (Miller) of Leland, NC; three grandchildren and their spouses: Ericka and Matthew Kuntz, Raleigh, NC; Ian and Olivia Strawn, Macungie, PA; and Allison and Jonathan Anderson, Myrtle Beach, SC; and three great grandchildren. George also has a brother Richard Strawn, Hellertown, PA and two sisters, Shirley Jenkins of Durham, PA and Jean Houseworth of Athens, GA. He was preceded in death by a sister Catherine.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the John S. Sell Chapel of the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, PA.
