George Paul Sapko, 91, of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation, Frackville. He was born Saturday, October 21, 1922 in Custer City to the late Andrew and Anna. (Jesenko) Sapko. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy (Johnson) Sapko.
George was a dedicated employee of Case Cutlery; where he retired as the South Bradford Plant Superintendent after many years of service. He was a faithful member of The Church of the Holy Spirit in Palmyra and was a former member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish in Bradford. He was an avid sportsman enjoying both hunting and fishing. Most importantly he was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by a daughter, Betsy Walter and husband Daniel of Palmyra; a son, David Sapko and wife Kathleen of Chicago; 4 grandchildren, Paula Walter, Lisa Judd, Erin Edris, and Jeffrey Sapko; 4 great-grandchildren, Katie Sapko, and Melanie, Diana, and Alice Edris; a sister, Helen Sapko; and a brother Andrew Sapko, Jr.. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Judd; a grandson, Christopher Judd; and 11 siblings.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
