George D. Heistand

George D. Heistand, 82, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Sunday, June 14, 2026. He was born in Lancaster to the late Martin B. and Mary S. (Seachrist) Heistand, and the late birth mother, Pearl L. Rapp Biscotti. He was the loving husband of 55 years to Sandra L. (Collins) Heistand.

George was the world’s best storyteller. The soul who noticed the small things. A friend to all, he could talk to anyone he met and create a bond. He was loved by all, including animals. He was smart and, most importantly, full of kindness. He was a great handyman and jack-of-all-trades and always willing to help others with those skills.

Above all, George lived a life defined by kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. Throughout his life, he touched countless hearts.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by 11 children, Kimberly DiLucia, Shawn Heistand, Christina Taylor, Pamela Tankesley, Tracy Reem, Stacey Henry, Bruce Heistand, Frank Heistand, Connie Heistand, Janice Vaughan, and Jane Vaughan; 17 grandchildren, Brittany, Erika, Trey, Brody, Brandon, Justin, Douglas, Aaron, Miranda, Ryan, Heather, Joshua, Ashley, Catlynn, Tia, Hailey, and Cody; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Heistand and Earl Biscotti; and four sisters, Elsie Witmer, Beverly Jones, Moriah Zackar, and Darlene Huettner. George is also survived by his dog, Harley. He is preceded in death by his sister, Pat Weaver; along with his parents and birth mother.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 6-8PM at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
