George M. Heberlig, 90 of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Hershey Medical Center. Born Monday, February 6, 1933 in Newburg, PA he was the son of the late Frederick L. and Mary (Reese) Heberlig. He was married 68 years to Janice (Cramer) Heberlig.

George was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Ship Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg. A long-time member of Christ Church United Church of Christ, Elizabethtown, where he served on consistory and as a deacon, as well as numerous other committees. He was a 50-year member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 97, Londonderry Twp. He was a founding member of the Londonderry Scouting Complex and served as its chairman for 30 years. George was a life member of the Londonderry Volunteer Fire Company.  He was a member of the Nittany Lion Club and loved attending Penn State football games. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing and loved being a judge for Penn State AG. In his youth, George was active with 4-H. He also enjoyed the Pocono Races.

Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son Eric Heberlig and wife Christine of Elizabethtown; son-in-law Kevin Rider of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren: Erin Burrows (Michael), Meghan Rider, George Heberlig (Madison) and Elizabeth Heberlig; a sister Delores Bressler and a brother F. David Heberlig. He was predeceased by a daughter Jody Rider, a brother Kenneth Heberlig and two sisters: Shirley Goodyear and Winifred Appleby.

A funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 2:00 PM. Viewing will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Interment with Military Honors will take place on *Friday, February 16, 2024* at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 9:30 AM. Those wishing to attend should arrive at the cemetery, behind the administration building, between 9:00 AM & 9:15 AM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Londonderry Fire Company, 2655 Foxianna Road, Middletown, PA 17057 or to the Londonderry Scouting Complex, 1831 Felker Road, Middletown, PA 17057.
