After a lengthy illness, Gayle L. Bush, 79, of Landisville, passed quietly and peacefully on Friday, March 14th at home with her husband at her side. In her final days, she was cared for by her husband Robert and Hospice & Community Care. Gayle and Bob celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on February 14th of this year. Born Monday, September 10, 1945 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Martin N. and Dorothy (Berrier) Heisey.

Gayle was a 1963 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School. She was retired from Anvil International (Grinnell)  in Columbia where she was the benefits coordinator. She was previously employed by Hoffman Seeds and AH Hoffman Plant Foods in Landisville, as well as the Burnham Corp. in Lancaster.

Gayle was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, watching quiz shows and talent shows, was a NASCAR fan and loved her cats. She loved to travel, enjoyed bus trips to New England, vacations in Lewes, DE, and cruising with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines. Her close to home activity was Pickle Ball at the Hempfield Rec Center.

In addition to her husband, Gayle is survived by a daughter Cheri Groff and husband J. Randall of Lititz; a grandson Nathan Groff of Lititz and a granddaughter Jordan Groff of Landisville. She was predeceased by her step-father Albert Drace, a sister Joyce Heineman and a brother James Heisey.

The family would like to thank the Orange Team from Hospice & Community Care for their compassion during Gayle’s final days.

Services will be private.
