Gary "Pete" Ruth

Gary “Pete” Ruth, 66, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026. He was born December 29, 1959, to the late Joseph W. W. Ruth, Sr., and Oberita (Gotwalt) Ruth. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Greta Lorraine DeShong.

Pete was the most generous person you could meet; he gave everyone tips and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone who needed. His laugh was contagious, and his world revolved around food. His favorite spot was Big Mikes Crab House with family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching old westerns and watching Madea movies with his family. More than anything he loved to be together with his family.

He is survived by his siblings, Shirley Keefer and husband Michael, Anthony Ruth and wife Fran, and Michael Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Rox Anne Ruth, Joseph Ruth, Jr., Larry Ruth, John Ruth, Brenda Hill, and Marlyn Ruth.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:30 am at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022. A time of visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the start of the service. Burial will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 11 am at St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, PA.
