Eugene Luke Kunkle, 73, of Palmyra, passed away with family by his side on Friday, April 12, 2013 at The Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He was born Monday, June 26, 1939 in Berks County to the late Charles E. and Sarah (Weaver) Kunkle. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary E. (Seigrist) Kunkle.
Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent his working years employed by Hershey Foods. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and of the Knights of Columbus. He was proudly known for his baking for church functions. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and spending time in the mountains.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters, Amy Shepler and husband Todd and Beth Harris and husband Greg; a step-daughter, Cathy Good and husband Bob; 4 grandchildren, Adam and Heather Good and Adam and Jessica Harris; 3 siblings, Ray Kunkle, Ruth Stine and husband Lee, and Pearl Swineheart.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 17th at 11 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as celebrant. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow with full military honors in Grandview Memorial Park, Annville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, 17078.
