ETHEL (REIBER) GANTZ

Ethel (Reiber) Gantz passed away April 15, 2014, in Elizabethtown. She was born on September 12, 1922 in Conewago Township, to the late Roy M. & Edna (Aldinger) Reiber. She was a graduate of Hershey High School.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna L., wife of Don Weaver, Elizabethtown and Karen L., wife of Jim Sievert, Londonderry, NH. There are four grandchildren, Scott Eshleman of Maytown, Shari L., wife of Randy Roaten of Mount Joy, Elisabeth M., wife of Johnny Tuffo, Winthrop, MA and Todd Sievert husband of Katie, Manchester, NH, great granddaughter, Lindsey M. Roaten, Mount Joy. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Ebersole, Palmyra. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Bender, Elizabethtown.

Ethel was active in the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren. She participated in Women’s Bible Study and volunteered in various areas of church life. She retired in 1991 from Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Previously she had waitressed at Aunt Sally’s Kitchen, The Farm Diner/ Kountry Kitchen and Clearview Diner, all former restaurants in the Elizabethtown area. She had been a member of the Elizabethtown VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Ethel loved to travel. She visited Hawaii, Alaska, Arizona, the New England states, and Florida. Abroad she visited Germany, to see The Passion Play, Switzerland and Austria. Ethel was able to visit the Holy Lands on two different occasions. Her final trip was to Italy.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm (Noon) on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Burial will be in Conewago Church Cemetery, Elizabethtown.

Viewing will be from 11am until 12pm (Noon) on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the church.
