Esther A. (Charles) Enck

Esther A. Enck, 98, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was born on Monday, January 25, 1926 to the late Howard and Ella Amelia (Miller) Charles. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Richard E. Enck whom she married on December 1, 1945.

Ester worked at the Savoy Shoe Factory and Bachman Shoe. She went on to work at the Masonic Village where she cleaned chickens and worked for 13 years at the Grand Lodge Kitchen until retirement. She then lived at the Masonic Village since 2004. In 2010 she was awarded volunteer of the year in the state of PA for the PA Therapeutic Recreation Institute’s annual award. More than anything she was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her children: Gordon R. Enck and companion Donna, Peggy Burke and husband Steve; grandchildren, Shawn Snyder, Chris Leggett, Douglas Enck, and Dory Martin; great grandchildren, Tyler Snyder, Kiernan Snyder, Jacob Enck, Payton Leggett, and Madison Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Christian Charles, Goldie Wright, Richard “Bud” Charles, David Charles, Betty Runkel, and Pauline Waters and a great-grandson, Jory.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11 AM at Sell Chapel at the Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Pastor Van Deursen Officiating. A time of viewing will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Good’s Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
