Ernest D. Burkholder

Ernest D. Burkholder, 70, of Thompsontown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Carolyn’s House, Harrisburg.  Born Monday, February 28, 1949, in Newville, PA, he was the son of the late Edward and Myrtle (Barrick) Burkholder.  He was married to Kathleen A. (Walker) Burkholder on November 21, 1970.

Ernest enjoyed dirt track racing at Port Royal Speedway and being part of the pit crew for the limited late model race.

In addition to his wife of nearly 49 years, he is survived by two sons: Daniel Burkholder and James Burkholder, married to Nicki, of Richfield, PA.  Also surviving are granddaughter, Samantha Blackistone; a brother, Roger Burkholder, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Isabelle Louise Hock.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Fager-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 208 North Union Street, Middletown, PA  17057, 717-944-7413.
