Eric Metzler

Eric Franklin Metzler, 78, of Mount Joy, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 11, 2026. He was born May 8, 1947 to the late Charles F. and Edith H. (Fleischner) Metzler. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marion (Gish) Metzler.

Eric was a proud Army veteran whose life was defined by service, leadership, and generosity. A 32nd degree Mason with a local Lodge, he was also a dedicated professional firefighter and selflessly served his community. He was vice president of Adhesive Mixing Equipment, Inc. for several years. For more than 30 years, Eric was an original member of the Elizabethtown Train Guys, a passion that reflected his lifelong love of collecting and sharing trains with others. His giving spirit extended beyond his hometown through volunteer work with his church and Habitat for Humanity in Florida. Eric served as past president of both the Willow Wood Swim Club and the Elizabethtown Lions Club, always stepping forward to help wherever he was needed. Known for his willingness to lend a hand to anyone, Eric found his greatest joy in cheering on his grandchildren as he proudly watched them play sports and supporting others. He will be remembered for deep love for his family, dedication to community, and his servant’s heart.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gregory Metzler (Diane), Christopher Metzler, and Jessica Bair (Joshua); grandchildren, Rachel Range (Bryan), Shane Bair (Kayla), and Derek Metzler; and great grandchildren, Zophia, Tallulah, and Delaney.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11 am at Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, 713 Church St., Mount Joy, PA 17552 with Pastor Heather Hammel officiating, and with Masonic and Military Honors. A time of visitation will be held from 10 am until the start of the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
