Elvin Harry Williard, 85, of Palmyra, passed away with family by his side on Friday, March 21st at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. He was born Sunday, March 17, 1929 in Gratz to Herbert H. and Crusie (Daniel) Williard. He is survived by his loving wife Grace A. (Laudermilch) Williard.
Elvin graduated from Hershey High School prior to serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of UA Local 520 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. He attended the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey and dedicated many hours to serving others through volunteer work with Compassionate Care Hospice and CPYU in Elizabethtown. Elvin was an avid sports fan; he played for the Hershey Junior Bears and subsequently became a huge Hershey Bears fan. He enjoyed taking time to travel. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by 3 sons, Glen M. Williard and wife Luanne Lunney Williard, of Harrisburg, Steve M. Williard and wife Mary Lynn of Houston, TX, and Alan M. Williard and wife Leann H. of Severn, MD; 2 step-children, Philip R. Bishop of Ephrata and Lori M. Murphy of Lancaster; 5 grandchildren, Zachary H. Williard and wife Kristin, Hope I. Williard, Abigail A. Williard, Carly S. Baker, and Piers C.A. Farebrother; and a great-grandson, Zachary H. Williard, Jr.. He was predeceased by his wife Lois (Martin) Williard and a brother Nevin Williard.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 28th at 2 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078 with Reverend Brain Medkeff Rose officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 1 PM until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Dr., Suite 100, Camp Hill 17011.
