Elmer E. "Stringie" Tobias, Jr.

Elmer E. “Stringie” Tobias, Jr., 87, of Palmyra, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at home. Born Tuesday, April 7, 1931 in Annville, he was the son of the late Elmer E., Sr. and Mary (Landis) Tobias. He was married 66 years on July 5thto Mary Louise (Painter) Tobias.
Stringie was retired from Bethlehem Steel where he worked as a millwright. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the American Legion. Stringie loved baseball and played until the age of 79. He also enjoyed hunting and bowling. Stringie was very generous, and would always give someone a place to stay.
In addition to his wife Mary Louise, he is survived by a daughter Deborah A. Ginder and husband Samuel of Lebanon; two grandchildren: Rachel Ginder of Bellefonte and Caleb Ginder of Lebanon; a niece Brenda Gerberich and a great nephew Andrew Patterson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Encounter Church, 220 Campbelltown Road, Palmyra, PA 17078 at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Palmyra Cemetery.
