Elizabeth "Betty" Pauline (Maurer) Longenecker

Elizabeth “Betty” Pauline (Maurer) Longenecker, 70, of Palmyra, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. She was born Tuesday, October 5, 1943 in Darby to the late Adam and Pauline (Bender) Maurer. She is survived by her loving husband William Robert Longenecker.

She was a faithful member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Betty had a passion for singing; she sang in the Palmyra Community Chorus, Mannechor Club Lebanon, and in her church choir. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and found relaxation in bird watching. Betty loved spending time with her family and caring for her pets. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a son David Longenecker and fiancé Kelly Meister; a granddaughter, Alexa Longenecker; and 4 siblings, Fredrick and Thomas Maurer and Kathryn Reist and Mary Wike.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 29th at 11 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as celebrant. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, 17078.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to her church.
