Elizabeth "Betty" M. (Schad) Gordon

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Gordon, 78, formerly of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.  Born Tuesday, February 21, 1939 in Mahanoy City, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Florence M. (Schad) Briel.  She was married to Clarence F. “Casey” Gordon, Jr. for over 45 years until his death in 2002.

A homemaker for most of her life, Betty enjoyed camping, word searches, reading her Bible and being active in her church, Newville Bible Church, Elizabethtown.

She is survived by her siblings: Sandy Hippensteel, of Elizabethtown, Thomas Briel (Sharon), of Bainbridge and Linda Herneisen (Bruce), of Elizabethtown as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and caring friends.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Briel, Jr. and a brother in law, Bob Hippensteel.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown for the loving care provided to Betty in the final days of her life.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543 with Pastor Edward H. Eifert officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillsdale Cemetery, Middletown.  There will be a viewing from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to the Newville Bible Church, 819 Turnpike Road, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.
