Eleanor (Klinger) Sternberger, 82, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2014 in The Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was born Thursday, April 28, 1932 in Lykens to the late Phillip Klinger and Sarah Leona (Gainer) Shaw. She was predeceased by her loving husband Homer D. Sternberger in 1987.
Eleanor was employed by Kraft Foods for 18 years, before spending 10 years working at the HersheyPark Warehouse. She was a member of Palmyra First U.M. Church but was attending LCBC, Manheim Campus. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Amish Literature. Eleanor enjoyed doing crafts and watching cooking shows. Most importantly she was a loving “Super Mom,” grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Kim Hennessy of Palmyra and Lori J. Sternberger of Palmyra; 3 sons, Michael D. Sternberger and wife Dawn of Palmyra, Douglas A. Sternberger of Easton, and James E. Sternberger and wife Betsey of Richland; 4 grandchildren, Heather Coy and husband Scott of Camp Hill, Samantha Sternberger of Fontana, and Bryce and Ciera Sternberger of Palmyra; 1 great-granddaughter, Jyllian Coy; and 8 siblings. She was predeceased by 2 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1st at 10 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078 with Pastor Keith Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends and family are invited for viewing on Tuesday, September 30th from 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 9 AM until time of the service.
