Edward (Ed) C. Miceli, 88, of New Hartford, NY passed away peacefully on April 23, 2015.
Ed was born on July 31, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late Dominic and Antonina (LaCorte) Miceli. He was a 1944 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, PA and was awarded a football scholarship to attend the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. In November 1947, he married the love of his life, Matilda (Tillie) Kocik and they made their home together in Verona, NY until Tillie passed away in 1990.
A Veteran, he proudly served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He later made a civilian career as an Electronic Technician in research at the Rome Air Development Center, Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome NY where he received multiple Performance, Scientific and Special Achievement Awards, Letters of Commendation and an Air Force Patent Award.
Ed enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and home improvement projects. He will be remembered as being a skilled handyman, working on a little bit of everything and the joy he found from helping others.
Above all, he will be remembered as a family man. He had a profound love for his family and was actively involved in his children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities.
He will be lovingly missed by a son, Dominic Miceli and wife, Helen; a daughter, Laurie Cornell and husband Scott; three grandchildren, Daniel Miceli, Alayne and Evan Cornell, two great grandchildren Nathan and Trevor Miceli, and many nieces, nephews and close friends. One of nine children, he was predeceased by seven siblings and is survived by his twin sister Vera Cardimona and his long time companion Mary Lytle.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny officiating. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with full Military Honors. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to view at the funeral home on Wednesday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 PM and also on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
