Edward George Larson, 82, formerly of
Bowmansville
, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown. He was born to the late Earl Leroy and Mildred Virginia (
Troy
) Larson on Sunday, January 31, 1932 in
Friedens
,
PA.
Ed left home at age 15 and began working at the Howard Johnson’s of
Somerset
,
PA
to later transfer to the Bowmansville, PA location where he met his wife, the late Alice Joan Hoffman of
Mohnton
,
PA.
Ed was a US Army Veteran and served in the Korean War from 1952-1954.
Upon his return from
Korea
, Ed returned to Howard Johnson’s, to later become a cook at Zinn’s Diner of Denver, PA. In 1964, Ed began his career at Bethlehem Steel. He was an underground mobile equipment mechanic at Grace Mines in
Morgantown
,
PA
until it closed in 1977. Ed transferred to mill operations in
Bethlehem
,
PA
until his retirement in 1981.
Ed was a companion and partner to Violet Sampson of West Lawn, PA for 35 years. Ed is survived by his brother David Larson, of Oxford, PA; two children, Judy Larson Enck, married to Steve Enck of Stevens, PA and William Earl Larson, married to Sylvia (Gockley) Larson of Palmyra, PA; three grandchildren, Nathan Grubb of East Earl, PA, Chelsea Larson and Jenna Larson, both of Hershey, PA; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Elizabeth Grubb of East Earl, PA.
A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held on Monday, March 10
th
at 12:30 PM in
