Earl Ginder Kanode

March 5, 1934 — March 5, 2025

Earl G. Kanode, 91, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Born in Roaring Spring, he was the son of the late William Ober and Anna (Ginder) Kanode.

Earl was a proud Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver for Melhorn Trucking Company of Mount Joy for many years. He enjoyed watching M*A*S*H and In The Heat of The Night on TV. Fond of animals, especially dogs, Earl loved his yorkie, Buttons. Earl also liked old country music, and enjoyed converting music to 8-track tapes.

He is survived by his five children, William Kanode, Michael Kanode (Tammie), Rebecca Bock (Dennis), J. R. Schaffner, and Michael Griffie; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Isaac Kanode (Miriam); a sister, Mary Hostetter (Jim); and two ex-wives and good friends, Betsy Brandick and Debra Kanode. He was preceded in death by eight siblings, in addition to his parents.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 11:30AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA with full military honors.
