E. MARGARET GABEL

E. Margaret Gabel, 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown.

She was born on August 10, 1928 in Sellersville, PA to the late William Gabel, Sr. and Mary A. (Kramer) Gabel.

Margaret was a graduate of Sellersville-Perkasie High School, Kutztown University and received her master’s degree from Syracuse University.

She was retired from the Elizabethtown College Library after 27 years of service as a librarian. She was also a volunteer with the Elizabethtown Police Department.

Margaret was an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elizabethtown, where she sang in the church choir and was a volunteer with meals on wheels. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, member & past president of the PA Smithsonian Members, member & past president of the Elizabethtown Historical Society, a member of the Preservation Association of Elizabethtown Sisterhood, and a member of the Elizabethtown Flower Club.

She is survived by her brother William Gabel, Jr. and his wife Dolores of Hatfield, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stepbrother Raymond Ludwig.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 17, 2014 in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabethtown. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Sellersville Cemetery, Sellersville, PA.

Visitation will be from 10am until 11am on Monday, February 17, 2014 in the church.
