Douglas Howard Gingrich, 55, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 5, 2015.  He was born Tuesday, August 25, 1959 in Hershey to the late Howard F. and Arlene (Gernert) Gingrich.  He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Elizabeth A. (Shepler) Gingrich.

He was a dedicated employee of Hershey Foods and a member of Local Union 464.  He was a lifetime member of Salem United Church of Christ Campbelltown.  Doug was a former EMT and a past Assistant Chief in the Campbelltown Fire Department.  His family owned Gingrich’s Bakery which was famous for their cream filled doughnuts.  Most importantly he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and brother.

He is survived by 3 children, Katelyn E., Madeline P., and Alexander D. Gingrich; 3 sisters, Diane Kreider and husband Timothy, Robin Aldinger and husband Douglas, and Kathy E. Binkley and husband James; and 2 faithful k9 companions, Princess and Lily.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10th at 11 AM at Salem United Church of Christ, 2761 Horseshoe Pike, Palmyra 17078 with Rev. Dwight Hein officiating.  Family and friends are invited for viewing on Monday, February 9th from 6-8 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078, and on Tuesday at the church from 10 AM until time of the service.  Burial will follow in Campbelltown United Christian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Salem UCC, PO Box 7, Campbelltown 17010, or the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Dept., 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, or Johns Hopkins Medicine, 750 E. Pratt St., 17th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202.
