Douglas J. Ewing

Douglas Jon Ewing, 52, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 30, 2014.  He was born Friday, February 2, 1962 in Kane, PA to the late Ronald Paul and Jean Marie (Magnuson) Ewing.  He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jan (Parana) Ewing.

He graduated from Kane Area High School in 1980 and recently received his certification as a Professional Massage Therapist from Harrisburg Area Community College.  Doug worked as a truck driver for 15 years before staying at home to raise and homeschool his two daughters.  He enjoyed softball, golf, bowling and watching sports.  He coached soccer and basketball for several years at New Covenant Christian School.

Doug is survived by his two loving daughters, Lydia and Naomi Ewing, at home; four brothers, Paul, Norm, Rich, and Scot Ewing; two sisters, Cheri Peterson and Sandra Duffee; and many nieces and nephews.  Doug was predeceased by a brother, Roger Ewing.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 4 ^th at 1 PM at Palmyra Grace Brethren Church, 799 Airport Road, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Daniel Travis officiating.  There will be a period of food and fellowship at the church following the service.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra has been entrusted with the arrangements.
